Tucson for the Day!

We took a little day trip to Tucson last week. Just for the day.

Happy Valentine's Day to Us and Happy Birthday to our beautiful state of Arizona!

The morning drive was absolutely gorgeous.

A hint of a breeze and the morning sun peeking over the horizon as we headed south.

First things first... we headed straight to Barrio Bread Company near downtown Tucson.
Don Guerra is a renowned and nationally famous bread-baker.
His loaves are sublime, rustic, and uniquely crafted.
There are a few breads made every single day, and then a few in rotation.
We were lucky enough to visit on Valentine's Day and sample his incredible
Chocolate Studded Levain Bread.
PS - It didn't make it home!
Check out his website for more information at

But... get there early, because they sell out quickly.
The line is long, but it moves fast.

We love to meander on University Avenue, on 4th Avenue, and on the
University of Arizona Campus.
Our kids attended here (4 years each!) and we think it's just a gorgeous piece of property and history.

The Power of Kindness.
Kindness is defined as the quality of being
Friendly, Generous, and Considerate.

I like to think that kindness begets kindness.
And couldn't our world use a little (a lot) more kindness?

This gorgeous statue is on the University campus just near the
Woman's Honor Plaza.

Tucson's 4th Avenue was not really happening on a Tuesday morning.
But, late night shenanigans are probably still all the U of A students need.
There were not as many shops available to pop into, but that may be
due to the time of day we visited, or Covid's thorough destruction of local businesses.
I blame everything on Covid.
How can I not?

Perfect for Valentine's Day!

I love labyrinths.
There. I said it.
I love labyrinths.
There is such a calm and peaceful vibe as I cycle through the elaborately planned formation.
This piece of tranquility was on the far side of Rillito River Park, near the canal.
Take a look at that gorgeous sky!

And then this sky here.
This picture was taken just about 5 minutes later and the clouds were heading in.
Quickly!
All of a sudden, the wind picked up and we were surrounded by strong gusts and cloudy skies.
It was still gorgeous.
The mountains surrounding Tucson are unpredictably beautiful.

We finished up our day with a lovely drive home, avoiding the major highway and headed to
Queen Creek Olive Mill.
I love shopping here, though pricy - it's local and fun and there is great stuff to be had.

Until next time...
